Church membership is not the same as discipleship. Jesus commands his church to “make disciples. . . and teach them to obey all that I have taught you.” Disciples are committed to becoming more like Jesus in their attitudes and actions. Jesus invited people into a community of persons committed to following him where they can assist one another in becoming fully devoted followers.
Intentional Discipleship at Highlands United Methodist Church provides several ways to help followers of Jesus Christ become transformed disciples: Sunday morning classes, weekly Bible study, and coming soon small group studies. Intentional Discipleship
Sunday Morning Classes
Sunday morning classes meet from 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM. There are classes for all ages.
Each class, led by a well-prepared instructor, not only provides Bible studies but fellowship as well.
The Adult Seekers class, led by Mrs. Hazel Fleming, meets in the Education Building and is studying God’s Creative Word (March 4 – May 27) .
The Young Adult class meets in the parlor in the Sanctuary building and is currently studying the Old Testament. This class is led by Mrs. Sue Fitzsimmons.
The Youth class for young people in the sixth through twelfth grade are studying the Book of James and is led by Pastor Frank Fitzsimmons; they meet in the Youth Room in the Education Building.
The Elementary Age Children class meets in the Education Building and is studying the teachings of Jesus. Ms. Kathy Walther leads this class.
The Pre-school class meets in the nursery in the Sanctuary building with Mrs. Anna Hayner.

Small Group Studies
Small Group Studies provide an excellent place to grow in Christ.
Plans are currently underway to begin Small Groups very soon.
Weekly Bible Study
The Weekly Bible Study group that meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00 AM
is currently studying the Book of Acts, the history book of the New Testament.
Pastor Frank Fitzsimmons is currently leading the study; the group meets in the
Seekers Classroom in the Education Building.
